AN ambitious Sully teen with dreams of becoming a pro racing driver is appealing for sponsorship ahead of an upcoming amateur racing championship.
Seventeen-year-old Josh Evans races with 2009, 2011 and 2012 Mazda MX5 Championship winners Blendini Motorsport, and he is hoping to solidify his credentials in this year's championship, at tracks including Darlington and Silverstone.
The son of 2011 Welsh Sports and Saloon Car champion Dominic Evans, he started karting at Llandow aged eight - and has been racing since he was 15.
"My dad got me into it," said Josh.
"I loved the atmosphere around the track. I was hooked immediately and there was nothing else I wanted to do."
This year's MX5 Championship has a total of 120 registered drivers/cars competing throughout the season.
"The racing is very competitive," added Josh.
"The cars are modified Mazda MX5s."
But the Cardiff and Vale College student really wants to follow in the footsteps of his dad, who also finished third in the 2012 Championship in the GT4 class.
"British GT is the top level of racing in the UK," said Josh.
"They race cars by Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Audi, McLaren, Nissan, and BMW. That's where I want to be."
But first he needs sponsorship for the upcoming seaoson.
"I can get the sponsors out on track with me at a track day, or they can come along to race weekends and witness the racing head on," he said.
The MX5 Championship is televised on Motors TV, Sky channel 413.
