THE NEW town mayor for Penarth has been officially elected.
At the town council's annual general meeting on Friday (May 19), cllr Ken Lloyd was elected as mayor of Penarth for 2017/2018.
Cllr Martin Turner proposed cllr Lloyd and the motion was seconded by cllr Cuddy.
Cllr Lloyd has served on Penarth Town Council before and was deputy mayor in 2011/2012.
He has worked in industry and is a longstanding member of the community of Penarth, enjoying regular competitive bowls.
Cllr Lloyd said: "I am very proud to be the Mayor of Penarth.
"I am looking forward to serving the people of Penarth to the best of my ability."
He will be fundraising throughout his year in office.
His nominated charities are Cancer Research UK and Royal National Institute of the Blind.
Cllr Jon Luxton was elected as deputy mayor of Penarth for the year.
