CARDIFF South and Penarth Liberal Democrats have selected Dr Bablin Molik as their candidate for the constituency by-election.
Dr Molik, a researcher and mother of two who has worked with organisations helping women gain confidence and skills, has strong connections to Penarth, with close family members who run a restaurant in the town.
"If elected to represent the residents of Penarth, I will continue to campaign for better rail services. I know this is one of the priorities for the people of Penarth," she said.
"I am not a candidate who has been parachuted in from another part of the UK; I live in the constituency and I know what people care about."
Current MP Alun Michael is resigning his seat in order to stand in the November Police and Crime Commissioner election.
