Rain is the victor in Old Pens clash

TORRENTIAL overnight rains that continued into Saturday morning presented Old Penarthians with an unexpected dilemma last weekend when Secretary Tony Crimp arrived at the Club’s Cwrt-y-Vil headquarters to find large areas of the main pitch covered in water, a situation that was replicated on both of the other pitches at the venue. Fortunately, the close proximity of WRU referee David Swain made matters easier but it required little more than a cursory examination for the worthy twosome to determine that the playing of any fixtures was likely to damage the surface to such an extent that recovery could well be prolonged.
