Tennis stars reach finals

YOUNG tennis players from Penarth and Dinas Powys did extremely well to reach the HSBC South West Wales Mini Tennis Club league finals.

AFTER A fortnight’s rest and, hopefully, recuperation, the Seasiders can look forward to working off the festive comestibles in the last league match of the year as Llanishen visit the Athletic Field this Saturday.
Rain is the victor in Old Pens clash

TORRENTIAL overnight rains that continued into Saturday morning presented Old Penarthians with an unexpected dilemma last weekend when Secretary Tony Crimp arrived at the Club’s Cwrt-y-Vil headquarters to find large areas of the main pitch covered in water, a situation that was replicated on both of the other pitches at the venue. Fortunately, the close proximity of WRU referee David Swain made matters easier but it required little more than a cursory examination for the worthy twosome to determine that the playing of any fixtures was likely to damage the surface to such an extent that recovery could well be prolonged.
Lottery boost for martial arts club

MEMBERS of the Inner Spirit Dinas Powys Taekwondo Club are set to reap the benefits of a cash investment into the youth of the area as it was announced that £1,000 of the community chest scheme will be provided to assist with the growth of the club.

THE PENARTH British Legion side have had a mixed run in recent weeks but still remain in contention in fourth place as the Cardiff and District Snooker league takes two weeks off for Christmas.
