South Wales Senior League Division One
Sully Sports 2
Grange Albion 0
A VERY welcome three points and a clean sheet for Sports at Swanbridge with a disciplined performance against a strong Albion team.
With the Swanbridge games among the handful to go ahead in the area, Sports at last played to their potential with some good football and better defence.
Young Lee Baldock again showed his class, fitting in well with the experienced Underdown and Ferguson.
Allthough Sports had the better of the first half neither side could score.
Grange employed a very organised offside trap and often caught out the Sully front men. Injury again struck Sports as Ben Taylor was helped off the field.
The second half saw Sully, with Mike Lewis and Richard Yarr, dominating the left side and it produced the first Sully goal as Richard Yarr broke down the left and beating the full back, hit a trademark curling cross for Mark Brown to sweep the ball home.
The back four, with Adam Govier outstanding, held up the expected Albion backlash with Ed Jones having a rare old tussle with the visiting centre forward and with Taylor- Moore able to go forward, Sports were looking good.
The second goal came with yet another 16-year-old debut-making Sports player, Alex Long, beating the Albion offside trap and expertly lobbing the keeper.
Sports had further chances but were happy to see the game out and only an indirect free kick on the six yard box gave them problems - but the defence cleared well and Sports gained a well deserved win.
New territory for Sports next Saturday as they visit Tonypandy Albion, players meet at 12.15pm at the Tyny.
Vale of Glamorgan League Division One.
Sully Sports 1
AFC Tadross 4
AFTER Sports led with a fine header, playing against the wind and defending well at half time, Tadross showed their strength with some opportunist goals. Although the play was quite even it was Tadross, led by the wily old fox, ex Sports keeper Kenny Vaughan, showing there is plenty of life in the old dog as he used all his experience when called upon and his side took the points.
This Saturday Sports are at the BSC away to the Knap players report by 1.15pm.
The premier Team are at Wenvoe where SW Flooring are the hosts players report at 1.15pm.
