HOWARDIANS 3
PENARTH 2NDS 1
HOWARDIANS maintained their lead over Penarth at the top of the Premier South Wales Hockey League with a win over Penarth 2nd team.
The game was goalless at half time thanks to an outstanding diving save by Penarth's goalkeeper, Charlotte Perry. Howardians then lifted their game in the second half, scoring from both open play and two penalty corner rebounds. Howardians continue to be the team to beat this season with not a point lost at nearly the half way point in the league campaign.
Penarth 1sts game against Barry was postponed and is to be played at a later date.
PENARTH 2NDS 2
UWIC 1
Penarth 2nds had a difficult double weekend, playing in the Second Eleven Cup against UWIC the day after their Howardians clash.
Penarth started slowly and UWIC went into half time 1-0 up, but then a young Penarth team came back strongly in the second half with goals from the impressive Katie Howson and Jane Humpage ensuring a 2-1 win.
This was a very encouraging team performance with Howson, Carys Tucker and Rachel John having outstanding games for Penarth.
