PENARTH’S RNLI Lifeboat was involved in the rescue of a yacht suffering from engine trouble in choppy seas on the weekend.
The Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat was despatched at about 5.15pm on Sunday, July 6, after reports of a vessel in distress roughly six miles from Penarth foreshore.
A yacht with two people on board was experiencing engine trouble 5.5 nautical miles east of Penarth Pier, mid-channel, in Force 5 Westerly with choppy seas.
Penarth lifeboat launched and found the yacht using the VHF direction finder onboard. The vessel was escorted and then towed in to Cardiff Bay barrage.
