A CHILDREN’S photography club will show off their stunning snaps at an exhibition at the Penarth Pier Pavilion on December 17.
Members of the public will be able to vote for their favourite pictures and the budding photographers will be in attendance from 4.30pm to 6.30pm to field questions about their work.
Katrina Dimech, who owns Shutter Hire photography and runs the photography club, said: “The children are aged between six and 13 and came to me with little knowledge of photography skills but with a passion for the art.”
“They have all made new friends and their sense of independence and confidence has grown.
“For children who aren’t necessarily academic, they benefit largely from a creative outlet.”

Children who aren’t involved in the club can still submit their entries, with the deadline for submissions being December 13.
There are four categories, and children can enter a photo for each one: animals, nature, reflection and friendship.
Each child who enters will be given a certificate and two independent photographers will hand out trophies to the best photos for each year group and category.
The public will then cast their vote on their favourite photo per age group, with four trophies up for grabs.
Entry to the exhibition begins at 1pm and is free.
“We want to give other local children the opportunity to try their hand at photography,” Mrs Dimech added.
The group have six cameras, so the club is available to those who aren’t able to purchase their own camera.
Children must hand their entries in print form and to arrange handing it in, email info@shutterhire.co.uk
