THE annual Scout Christmas post scheme which operates throughout Cardiff and most parts of the Vale of Glamorgan has been cancelled for 2020.
The scheme gives the public the opportunity to send Christmas Cards at a fraction of the cost of other postal services.
It has been in operation for 35 years and was the ‘brainchild’ of a group in Roath, Cardiff.
Some 500,000 cards are usually hand sorted and delivered by our members and volunteers, but this year’s post has been cancelled owing to Covid-19 and the restrictions in place.

Area commissioner for Cardiff and Vale Scouts, Julian Jordan said: “We have concerns for our scout groups and volunteers being able to sort and deliver in a safe environment so have made the decision not to run the scheme this year.
"Scout Post brings in around £150k each year to support Scouting in our 52 groups with 5,000 members.
"This needed income helps to run our adventurous programme and the upkeep of our buildings and transport.
"With Scout Post not taking place this year we are calling on the public to help us with fundraising so that our groups are able to continue to carry out the excellent work they do.
"We are calling on the public who would normally purchase stamps to make a donation where possible to help us keep going during these uncertain times.
"On behalf of Cardiff and Vale Scouts we would like to thank all those that have supported Scout Post over the years and to make it the success it is."
You can make a donation at https://www.totalgiving.co.uk/appeal/Scoutpost where you can also specify a group for your donation to be allocated to.
