TREES that have only been planted recently in Penarth have been destroyed, causing £1,500 worth of damage.
It is the second incident of vandalism to happen at Wordsworth Park in Penarth in recent months.
In December Gwyrddio Penarth Greening (GPG), a local environmental group, commenced preparations to plant a Fruit Garden in Wordsworth Park as part of its 'Growing Community' initiative.
Members were joined by residents in the park to carry out the work, but it was destroyed within days.
And on Wednesday Vale council officers reported that the park had again been hit by vandals.
"We're very disappointed to share the news that four of the newly planted trees at Wordsworth park in Penarth have been destroyed," they said. "This is approximately £1500 worth of damage."
The matter has been reported to South Wales Police, and anyone with any information should contact the Vale council.
