COSMESTON Lakes Country Park could soon introduce non-motorised water sports for visitors - and this is what our readers had to say.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council is currently inviting bids from organisations to provide non-motorised water sport activities and events at the park.
Our readers opinions were split on the plans, some were for it while others were up for keeping the park as it is. Here's what they said:
Rosemary Chapman said: "Water sports activities regularly at Cosmeston Lakes would be a great asset to the lovely area."
Beverley Frost said: "My son has kayaked/paddle boarded down there with canoe Wales and the children have loved it.
"They are all very aware of the wildlife and how to behave - the ducks and swans come over for a look and then go back to what they were doing."
Kirsty Lay said: "Good to get it back for swimming.
"We used to swim there as kids in the 80’s, there was always a cordoned off swimming area. Not sure why they stopped it."
Gareth Long said: "Cosmeston lakes is a country park please don't ruin it, anyway I would of thought it would not be safe, Cosmeston is an old quarry and would not be safe for water sports."
Louise Meaden said: "Why can’t it just be enjoyed for what it is? A beautiful quiet place for humans and wildlife.
"Sadly this is all about money and people constantly needing to be entertained."

A Vale of Glamorgan Council spokesperson said: “The lake is already available on a pay-as-you-go basis for a variety of uses such as canoeing.
"The council is looking for an experienced operator to manage these non-motorised low-impact activities.
"We are encouraging operators to consider offering activities such as paddleboarding and swimming to local residents and visitors.
"We know that participation from Vale residents in both of these activities has increased in recent years.”
The council also confirmed last month that charges for leaving vehicles in Cosmeston Lakes Country Park will come into force, and resident-only parking zones are to be installed nearby to deter people from using the streets to skip out on new car park charges.
Cosmeston Lakes and Country Park has over 250,000 visitors per annum from local residents and tourists and has grown in popularity over the last year
The strict deadline for submitting tender bids is 12 Noon 04 August 2021.
