INDEPENDENT bookshop Griffin Books in Penarth have recently become sponsors of the Penarth football team Penarthinaikos FC.
The team is part of the Cardiff Lazarou Sunday league, and was previously known as Cogan FC.
“I’m thrilled to have been able to support Penarthinaikos FC by funding their new kit,” said Griffin Books owner, Mel Griffin.
“I’ve known many of these lads since they were at primary school with my son Tom, and they are all still good friends.
“As a local independent business we’ve been fortunate enough to be able to come through the challenges of the pandemic with support from the local authority, so it seems only right to channel some of that back into our community.
“Young people have had a particularly hard time during lockdown and the benefits of team sport for their physical and mental wellbeing is well known, so really it was a no-brainer.”
