WELSH Government has extended the Covid pass to include cinemas, theatres, and concert halls.

The new measures came into effect across Wales on November 15, after the Senedd approved the extension of the pass on November 9.

Snowcat Cinema, based on Penarth Pier Pavilion, has offered clarity on what this means for visitors to the venue.

What will I need to enter the cinema?

Those aged 18+ who visit the cinema will have to provide at least one of the following:

  • A valid vaccine passport
  • Proof of a negative lateral flow test in the past 48 hours
  • Evidence of the presence of Covid antibodies.

Cinemas are legally required to enforce these restrictions, and abuse to staff due to this will not be tolerated.

What will happen if I come to the cinema but cannot meet these requirements?

People who cannot provide one of the above will not be allowed into the cinema and refunds will not be provided.

What versions of the vaccine passport will be accepted?

The cinema will accept paper or electronic copies of a valid vaccine passport; they may scan the QR code to confirm it is valid. People can get a pass via the Welsh Government’s website.

What is proof a negative lateral flow?

People are asked not to bring the physical test with them to the venue – they will accept text or e-mail confirmation of test results. Tests can be ordered via the UK Government’s website.

What do you mean by antibodies?

The cinema will accept paper or electronic copies of ‘recovery’ PCR test results which confirm the presence of Covid antibodies in the holder; they may scan the QR code to ensure it is valid. PCR tests can be ordered via the Welsh Government’s website.

Will other restrictions be in place?

Existing restrictions will be in place at the cinema. Face coverings must be worn while moving around the building and people are asked to keep them on as much as possible even when seated in the cinema. Face coverings can be removed when people are seated with food or drink in the bar area or when seated in the cinema.
