ALMOST 2,500 new Covid cases have been recorded across Wales in the latest Public Health Wales figures.
Across Wales, 2,424 new cases were recorded in the 24 hours up to 9am on Wednesday, February 2. Of these, 114 were in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Elsewhere, Cardiff (321) saw the highest rise in cases across Wales.
The Vale’s rolling seven-day case rate – for the week up to January 29, the latest available data – now stands at 615.3 per 100,000 people.
This is the sixth highest in Wales.
Cardiff’s case rate is now 625.2 per 100,000 people – the fifth highest across Wales.
In this latest 24-hour period, a further 11 coronavirus deaths have been reported by Public Health Wales. 912 people in the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board had died with Covid since the start of the pandemic.
