A FLOOD warning for Friday morning has been issued for Penarth.
Storm Eunice is due to arrive tonight (Thursday, February 17) with Natural Resources Wales warning of “the potential for very stormy coastal conditions”.
The organisation has issued a flood warning for numerous coasts due to Storm Eunice – including in Penarth.
The warning means that flooding is expected, and that “immediate action” is required (as opposed to a flood alert which means that flooding is possible and people should be prepared).
The risk of flooding is due to "a combination of high tide, forecast winds, and wave heights" at Storm Eunice hits South Wales.
Natural Resources Wales states: “There is still much uncertainty about the extent of the possible impacts from the storm, but they could be significant, we are monitoring the situation very closely.”
Natural Resources Wales currently has 47 flood warnings across the country and 22 flood alerts.
In the Vale of Glamorgan the flood warnings have been issued for:
- Coast at Penarth;
- Coast at Barry and Swanbridge;
- Coast at Aberthaw;
- Tidal areas at Llantwit Major;
- Tidal areas at Ogmore Castle.
