A GROUP of rowers in Penarth are hosting an event to raise money for the Red Cross Ukrainian Relief Fund.
The Early Morning Rowers are a group - mostly aged over 50 - who meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Penarth Yacht Club.
The group has been meeting for more three years and take part in one hour coached dry land rowing sessions at 8am on the days they meet.
As one member of the group is from Ukraine, the group decided to raise money for the Red Cross Ukrainian Relief Fund.
On Wednesday, March 16, the group will try to collectively row as far as they can for one hour.

Sixteen rowers are expected to take part and use eight rowing machines - meaning each person will row for 30 minutes.
People are being asked to guess how many metres the group will row in total for a chance to win a prize.
The closest guess will receive a bottle of champagne and £25.
Guesses cost £1 individually or six guesses cost £5 with all proceeds going to the Red Cross Ukrainian Relief Fund.
People wishing to support the rowers can do so by handing in a donation at Penarth Yacht Club, by contacting organiser Bryan Brayford at brianbrayford@aol.com or by simply turning up on March 16 to watch the rowers.
