The festival began on Saturday, June 18, and will run until Sunday, June 26.

This is the first time since before the pandemic that the festival has taken place in person since before the pandemic.

So far in the festival, there has been a talk from multi award-winning children's author Caryl Lewis on her new book Seed.

Other events in clude talks from novelist Tessa Hadley, poet and psychogeographer Peter Finch, and American author Pamela Petro.

There was also a crime-writing workshop from author Katherine Stansfield.

Mel Griffin, the owner of Griffin Books, said: "It is lovely to see so many of our regular customers returning to the festival and there have been lots of people coming across us for the first time too.

"We see the festival as very much a community event and we're looking forward to making it a permanent fixture on the Penarth summer calendar for years to come."

The festival will officially end on Sunday with the return of the popular poetry showcase hosted by poet and Penarth resident, Stephen Payne.

However, there will be another event after the festival on Saturday, July 2, when Lauren Ace and Jenny Løvlie will  lead a  storytime and activity session based on their bestselling books, The Girls and The Boys.
