This month marks one year since Jason Griffin became the new owner of Capital Apartments, and the Cardiff businessman has vowed that he and his team will aim to “remain consistent in delivering high standards” over the next 12 months.
Mr Griffin currently leads a team of 12 at the Cardiff Bay-based firm after moving into the serviced letting business following 24 years delivering exceptional customer service as a flight attendant for British Airways.
Capital Apartments, which was established back in 2002, is a short-term letting business that delivers high-quality serviced apartments around the bay area and Cardiff city centre.
“The past year has gone in a flash,” he said. “It’s incredible considering it was on the back of numerous lockdowns.
“It’s a fast-paced business with customers arriving seven days a week and enquiries coming in 24/7.
“I have a robust marketing campaign that focuses on delivering results and strengthening the brand.
“This renewed focus on marketing has been supported with the expert advice given by James Alloway and Brandon Tai at LOCALiQ who have been critical in helping to grow the business.
“I feel blessed by the response from our partners and property owners, it has been overwhelmingly positive.
“The team at Capital pride themselves on always going above and beyond, which makes my job so much easier. I cannot thank them enough for their incredible support.”
And the experience he gained as a flight attendant has stood him in good stead over the past year.
He added: “The personal highlight for me has been putting my skills obtained throughout my 24 years of service to good use as proprietor of Capital Apartments.
“I have been lucky enough to have stayed in some of the best hotels all over the world and that gives me the advantage of knowing what customers want and expect from a short-term let.”
Reflecting on his first 12 months at the helm, he continued: “The biggest challenge has been keeping up with demand and maintaining a five-star service, which has meant growing our housekeeping team.
“However, finding people that are committed to high standards and delivering a quality service takes time.
“But we pay a higher rate of pay and invest in training so that, as a team, we remain consistent in delivering high standards.
“Over the last 12 months, the main aim has been to make sure all our owners’ apartments remain fully occupied and our guests have that five-star experience.”
And as for the future, he said “Next year will be about keeping up with the demand of our serviced apartments and working with our owners to ensure each apartment is of exceptional quality.
“We then want to expand into the residential letting market and have set an ambitious target of having 100 short-term lets.
“If you have a property you are thinking of letting then please get in touch.
“Alternatively, if you’re interested in buying a property to service let, get in contact as we can help find that perfect property.”
