A PLAYGROUND in Penarth is set to receive £90,000 in upgrades from the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
Court-Y-Vil Multi-Use Game Area (MUGA) will be the playground improved, with contractors submitting designs for the project.
The site was first identified as being in need of improvement by Penarth Youth Action Group.
Work is being undertaken to improve playgrounds across the Vale and similar work has already been done at St David’s Crescent play area in Penarth, Windmill Lane in Llantwit Major and Clos Peiriant and Central Park in Barry.
Cllr Mark Wilson, cabinet member for neighbourhood and building services said: "I’m excited to see our extensive play area improvement work continue with a project to refurbish the MUGA on the Recreation Ground in Penarth.
"This work has seen facilities upgraded throughout the Vale, giving children modern, safe engaging spaces in which to exercise.
"Staying active is vitally important at all stages of life, not least when young as doing so can establish healthy habits that last a lifetime.
"More upgrades are in the pipeline, with news to follow in due course."
