REMEMBRANCE will be commemorated in Dinas Powys this weekend.
This Friday, November 11, will mark Remembrance Day, while Remembrance Sunday will be commemorated on November 13.
Dinas Powys is among the places in the Vale of Glamorgan, and across the country, which will host events – here’s what you need to know:
Remembrance Day
This year (2022) Remembrance Day will be on Friday, November 11.
People will meet at The Twyn, in the village centre, at 10.45am on the day and a two minutes silence will be observed at 11am.
There will be a short service to remember and honour those who fought in the military, including those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Following the service people can enjoy refreshments at the Lee Hall. This is being hosted by Dinas Powys Community Council.
Remembrance Sunday
This year Remembrance Day will be on Sunday, November 13.
There will be a half an hour service held at St Peter's Church from 10am to 10.30am.
Following this there will be acts of remembrance at The Twyn, in the village centre from 10.45am.
This will include:
- Two minutes silence at 11am;
- Reading of the names of the fallen;
- Laying wreaths and a short service.
Following this people can enjoy refreshments at the Lee Hall.
