HE'S officially made a promise to a school in Penarth!
Vaughan Gething MS, recently visited Fairfield School, on the town's Dryden Road, to see first-hand a special project the school were working on.
The school is involved in Fairfield's Community Street Design Project, working with Sustrans Cymru to encourage walking or cycling to school, along with help to fix bikes and scooters.
An important part of the school’s involvement was creating new designs for local roads to keep children safe on their journey to and from school.
After the school hoped Mr Gething would return to see the results, the minister for the economy said he was determined to be back.
Mr Gething described the work the school was doing as a “huge” and making a “lasting difference”.
“It was great to meet the Eco Committee and to see the hard work that’s gone into their campaign for safer streets around the school,” said Mr Gething.
“The changes at Dryden Road will make a huge and lasting difference to the safety of pupils, parents, and everyone in the wider community, and I look forward to going back once the work is completed.”

Representatives of Fairfield School Eco Committee hosted Mr Gething earlier this week to discuss road safety and how they had been involved in the project.
A spokesperson from the school who was at the visit, said the school hoped Mr Gething would return to see the results.
"The children were very excited to see all their hard work put into practice, with work on Dryden Road beginning soon," said the school. "Now they hope Mr Gething will visit again to see their designs in practice!"
