THE Penarth Times has seen many things in the town, but this one takes the biscuit.
While out and about in the town one evening, we were surprised to come across a group of Morris dancers.
And it turned out they were there for a very good reason.
On the evening of May 23 at around 7.30pm the Cardiff Morris team were dancing on Windsor Road outside St Fagan’s pub in celebration of a former member.

Phil Gibbins was described as “remembered with pleasure”.
Highlights of Mr Gibbins' time with the dancers included his 70th birthday tour, a hog roast, a garden party for Cardiff Morrismen - with home-brewed Vale Strong delivered by a proper beer engine - and the many Valleys tours he organised.
One member wrote a heartfelt message when they said: “The main thing is that Phil was a good bloke, interesting, a friend and fun to be with.”

The group started the dancing celebration of Mr Gibbons in Penarth town centre, with a “cracking” Hunting the Hare, Nantgarw.
After that they moved to The Golden Lion.
On the night, the group said: “We had a lovely evening and a great crowd of spectators and it was nice but bittersweet to raise a tankard to Phil. We will miss him so much.”
