ANOTHER crucial meeting is to be held on the delicate future of health care in Penarth, and Cardiff and Vale Health Board have just released the venue.
This time the health board want to talk with the public about the idea of a brand new “Wellbeing Hub” for the area.
It comes as chief executive of the health board Ms Suzanne Rankin made the explosive revelation that there simply weren’t enough GPs as crowds of Parthians pleaded to find out what provision would be made for GP services in the area.
Nearly a hundred people squeezed into the front room of West House on Thursday, March 30, as the health board looked to canvass opinion on how to shape healthcare strategy for the next ten years.
At the time, Ms Rankin said: “We have not got enough GPs. We need to make the role of GP appealing and flexible for people. We want young people to be interested in that career.”
The health board said of March’s meeting: “We appreciate the difficulties faced by the people of Penarth and are glad so many took the time to speak to us.”
Public engagement event set for June on the new “Wellbeing Hub”
The health board is about to engage with the public all over again in a public event set to be held in the Penarth Leisure Centre.
The event will look into the new “Wellbeing Hub”.
The health board describes Wellbeing Hubs as, “integrated, community-focused health and wellbeing facilities, which provide people with access to primary care and a wider range of health, care, and wellbeing services in the community”.
The meeting will also cover the future of primary and community health and social care services in Eastern Vale.
Primary care services include GP surgeries, dental services, pharmacies and opticians among many others.
The event is free and open to the public.
A health board spokesperson said: “We are encouraging the people of Penarth, Dinas Powys and Sully to share their thoughts openly on the proposed Wellbeing Hub.
“Please share this information with your friends and family and mark yourself as ‘attending’ on our Facebook event.”
The engagement session on a proposed Wellbeing Hub in Penarth is set to go ahead on Monday, June 26 between 6-7PM at Penarth Leisure Centre.
