RESTAURANTS, bars and cafes in Penarth have won maximum marks for food hygiene.
According to the most recent figures for June, five food and drink establishments have been awarded top scores of five in their food hygiene ratings.
The Food Standards Agency records ratings for venues, which are inspected and graded based on things like hygienic food handling, the cleanliness and condition of the facilities, and management of food safety.
Establishments are awarded a score from five – the highest – to zero, depending on the inspectors’ findings.
These venues in Penarth all scored a rating of five in their recent inspections:
- Cafe 64, in Windsor Arcade; rated on June 6;
- Coffee #1, in Windsor Road; rated on June 6;
- The Golden Lion, in Glebe Street; rated on June 6;
- Merrie Harrier, at the Merrie Harrier Hotel, in Penlan Road, Llandough; rated on May 31;
- Victoria Tea Room and Ice Cream Parlour, in Cornerswell Road; rated on May 30.
