PENARTH'S famous summer festival, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow, has been cancelled.
The town council say that with the "deepest regret" they have had to cancel this year's festival.
The council say that due to the anticipated high winds and adverse conditions expected along the Esplanade, they are no longer in a position to deliver the event.
The full statement on the town council's website reveals the announcement in cold hard facts saying: "Cancellation Notice: Penarth Summer Festival and Downhill Derby."
The statement goes on to say: "It is with deep regret that we have to announce the cancellation of tomorrow’s Penarth Summer Festival and Downhill Derby.
"Due to the anticipated high winds and adverse conditions expected along the Penarth Esplanade, we are no longer in a position to deliver the event as planned.
"Ensuring the safety of our participants and attendees is our primary concern.
"We sincerely apologise for any disappointment and inconvenience this announcement may cause. Your safety is our top priority, and we hope for your understanding in this regrettable situation.
"We look forward to gathering together for future events."
The event was going to be an extra special occasion with an emotional tribute planned after the tragic death of two-time downhill derby champion Matthew Woodward who died in a crash on the A48 at Bonvilston earlier in the month.
There is no confirmation when or if the event will be rescheduled.
