CARDIFF Bus has announced changes set to take place to routes across Barry and Penarth.
The bus service will be updating services from Thursday, September 7.
Some routes to Barry, will be scrapped with changes made to multiple services across the Vale of Glamorgan.
A Cardiff Bus statement said: “This is now the new base level that we must work from as we move back to operating with reduced support.
“These are hard decisions, but we must make changes to maintain a sustainable network in Cardiff and eastern Vale of Glamorgan.”
The following changes are listed below.
Penarth
- Services 92, 93, and 94 to Penarth and Barry have a revised timetable. The city centre terminal point for these services will change to Wood Street, stop JA, on the opposite side of the road to BBC Wales HQ.
- Service 99 to Penarth seafront and Esplanade from Cardiff city centre and Cardiff Bay will remain for most of the month, with the open-top sky car route ending on September 23.
Barry
- Service 96A from Cardiff to Barry will be scrapped and will run as service 96.
- Services 97 and 97A from Barry town centre to Colcot will be replaced with new services B1 and B2, which will run on every 30 minutes on week days and every hour on Saturdays, from Colcot (Winston Square) via Gibbonsdown to Barry Town Centre and Barry Morrisons.
- Service B1 will also run to Barry Island, for journeys from Colcot to Barry Town Centre and Morrisons via Jenner Road.
- Service 98 from Barry town centre to Highlight Park will be replaced by new route B1, which will run on week days from Highlight Park to Colcot (Winston Square), then Gibbonsdown to Barry town centre, Barry Morrisons and Barry Island.
- A new B2 service will run from Cwm Talwg Estate Colcot (Winston Square), then Gibbonsdown to Barry town centre, Barry Morrisons.
- Service C2 Cardiff and Vale College rider to CAVC Barry ICAT is being scrapped, and there is no direct replacement planned at this stage. CAVC has tendered for a replacement and a further update will be provided once the tendering process is complete.
- New services B1 and B2 will run every 30 minutes, with service B1 extending to Barry Island. The new services will run on Mondays to Fridays, B2 will also run on Saturdays.
- Services H59 and H95 Heath and Llandough Hospital Park and Rides will remain, supported by the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
