CALLING all budding young Picassos - The Penarth Business Group has announced its Summer Art Competition!
Entries are open to under-12s and those aged 12 to 17, with categories titled 'Shop Local', and 'My Favourite Penarth Shop, Eatery, Business, or Shopping Area' .
And winners will be displayed in businesses around the town in September.
Participants can create their masterpieces through any medium they want, from traditional forms such as painting, sculpture, and collage, to contemporary approaches like photography and computer-aided design.
Creations can be handed in at the following locations:
- Griffin Books in Windsor Road;
- Glass by Design in Station Approach;
- Penarth Library in Stanwell Road;
- View Publishing at the Milkshed, Machen Street.
The deadline for submissions is Saturday, September 2.
The business group said in a statement: "Your artworks will be proudly displayed in local shops and businesses throughout September, and winners will be selected by a distinguished panel of judges, with an additional 'People's Choice' vote.
"The prize-giving ceremony, hosted by the Town Mayor, will be held in October, so mark your calendars and let the artistic journey begin!."
Distinguished members of the community will form a panel of judges to meticulously evaluate and select winners from each category. Adding an extra layer of excitement, there will also be a 'People's Choice' vote, enabling the public to voice their preferences.
The event will end with the prize-giving ceremony, scheduled to take place in October.
