Crews from RNLI Penarth were called out to rescue two teenagers in difficulty at Penarth beach.
The RNLI received reports of teenagers who were cut off by the tide and were requested by the Milford Haven Coast Guard to assist with the rescue.
Two boats were launched to rescue the 16 and 17 year-old who were located 300 metres south of the slipway, on a steep bank under the cliff.
The teenagers were assisted to the lower bank, for crews gave them lifejackets to assist them to the D-class boat.
A bigger Atlantic 85 boat provided light and further support as the teenagers were escorted to safety.
A spokesperson for RNLI Penarth said: “A bigger Atlantic 85 provided light and further support if needed, they were safely returned to the slipway.
“Whilst cleaning the boats three young children asked what had happened. The crew educated them about the 11m tides, and to call 999 for the coastguard if they see someone in trouble."
