RUGBY legend Kevin Sinfield is running through Penarth as part of an epic national challenge.
Former Leeds Rhinos captain Sinfield is currently on his “7 in 7 in 7 Challenge” running seven ultra-marathons in seven days to raise awareness and money in support of those impacted by Motor Neurone Disease.
Sinfield’s great friend and former teammate the talismanic Rob Burrow suffers from the illness.
It’s been a year since another rugby legend, Scotland's Doddy Weir died of the disease.
Sinfield started his challenge at Headingley in Leeds midday today and tomorrow, December 2, he will be running through Cardiff and Penarth Marina.
For the first time, the 7 in 7 in 7 Challenge will take the fundraising to multiple cities.
The team will travel to Cardiff, finishing the day on the pitch at halftime of the United Rugby Championship game between Cardiff and Scarlets at The Arms Park.
The route will start at the Principality Stadium at 11.30am and take Sinfield and his team out passed Sophia Gardens cricket ground before heading north to Whitchurch and then coming back through Victoria Park, passing Cardiff City Stadium and then Cardiff Bay before finishing at the Arms Park.
Sinfield's other marathons will be done in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Dublin, Brighton and London.
Alongside his running challenges, Kevin has released a new book With Us Every Step, which is a celebration of his friendship with ex-rugby player Rob Burrow.
In the book the pair's moving words are brought to life with artwork from leading illustrators, such as Rob Biddulph and Sam Usher.
Over the weekend, Griffin Books will have copies of the book signed by Kevin Sinfield, and 50p from every copy sold will be split evenly between Motor Neurone Disease Association and Leeds Hospitals Charity.
