A PENARTH opticians has been celebrated in a national awards.
Osmond Drake took top honours with a double win at the National Optometry Awards.
Marc Drake, director and lead IP Optometrist at Osmond Drake, clinched the title of Contact Lens Practitioner of the Year at the prestigious Optician Awards held at Hilton Park Lane, London, in December.
Mr Drake, with professional certificates in Glaucoma and Medical Retina, is described as a cornerstone in providing exceptional eyecare to the Penarth community since 1994.
His dedication extends beyond the walls of Osmond Drake.
Since March 2020, amidst the challenges posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, he has played a vital role in supporting Eye Casualty as an independent prescriber, ensuring prompt and effective eyecare for emergency appointments at Osmond Drake and alleviating pressure on the NHS.
The success of this initiative has led to the expansion of the service across Wales.
Mr Drake's expertise encompasses fitting specialist contact lenses, including semi-scleral and scleral lenses, myopia management lenses, and those tailored for keratoconic patients.
Additionally, Mr Drake has also served as a specialist optometrist at The University Hospital of Wales, further enhancing his knowledge in managing eye diseases.
Further contributing to the practice's success, Elinor Hobby, optometrist, was honoured with the title of Innovator of the Year at the Welsh Optometry Awards held at Portland House, Cardiff Bay, in November.
Ms Hobby, who provides eye examinations, contact lens fittings, aftercare, and emergency eye care appointments at Osmond Drake, is also a certified low vision practitioner.
Her commitment to excellence is evident through her additional certification in Glaucoma.
Osmond Drake, founded by Osmond I. Drake in 1958 and currently led by husband and wife partnership Marc and Alison Drake, stands as a third-generation family business deeply rooted in the heart of Penarth.
The practice boasts state-of-the-art diagnostic and medical equipment, offering cutting-edge treatments and better vision to its clientele.
Ossie's vision of providing outstanding eye care to the community, coupled with a personal touch and a commitment to understanding individual needs, continues to guide the practice.
The recent accolades for Marc Drake and Elinor Hobby further solidify the practice's reputation as Penarth's family opticians par excellence.
