A PENARTH artist has thanked locals who helped raise over £200 at an art exhibition to support the children of Ukraine.
Richard O'Connell is a well-known face in the Welsh art scene and an exhibition of his work recently took place at Waterloo Tea on Stanwell Road.
The Children of Ukraine Foundation aims to improve the quality of life and build brighter futures for Ukrainian children and to provide humanitarian relief to those impacted by Russia’s war in Ukraine.
The exhibition of his work has been on display since November with the show ending on Friday, January, 5.
His work included still-life pictures of flowers and fruit, with some of the flowers painted in the colours of the Ukrainian national flag of blue and yellow. It also included paintings of fruit and glass objects.
Mr O'Connell told the Penarth Times that the exhibition raised over £200 in support of Ukrainians struggling in the war with Russia.
He said: " I want to thank all concerned in this fundraising exhibition in support of Ukrainians continuing armed struggle against Putin’s vicious and cowardly onslaught on a sovereign state."
The artist hopes to generate further exhibitions in support of Ukraine charities.
