St Fagan's Castle pub in Penarth has new landlords

St Fagan’s Castle, on the corner of Glebe Street and Windsor Road, re-opened in 2022 after it had a £224,000 refurbishment and has now seen a new couple take over.

Debbie Jones and her husband Huw took over St Fagan’s Castle on Monday, February 26, after moving to Penarth last summer and becoming regulars at the pub.

“It has been lovely, everybody has been very welcoming with the locals and the regulars its fabulous.”

Before running St Fagan’s Castle, the couple were managers of The Albion on Glebe Street for eight months.

She added: “We visited here a couple of times a week, we were working for the Albion down the road and then came here.

“It has been exhausting this first week having to get used to the computer systems but it's great.”

The pub doesn’t serve food but is well known for its cheap pints, lively entertainment and cosy atmosphere.

It also raises money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, a charity close to their hearts after losing loved ones to the disease.

“We have a lovely charity raffle coming up which is going towards the Motor Neurone Association as it’s the brewery charity of the year.

“It’s a charity close to our hearts having lost family members and we also want to do a lot to support local charities as well.

“We have karaoke and live singers on the weekend, we are doing some events for St Patrick's Day and the bank holiday coming up.”

At St Fagan’s Castle, you can find a pint of Carling or Strongbow for under four pounds which is cheaper than your average pint.
