Cardiff Bus has announced the launch of a new app exclusively for travellers on the school run-on routes in Penarth and Llandough.
The bus operator will launch an app-exclusive ‘school-run’ ticket next month in a bid to improve challenges customers face during school run hours.
Upon launch on Monday, April 8, tickets on the app will cost £6 on journeys in Cardiff, Llandough and Penarth on school days between 7 am and 7 pm.
The school-run ticket will allow an adult to travel accompanied by up to three school children, providing a convenient solution for parents on the busy school drop-off and pick-up routine.
Gareth Stevens, Commercial Director for Cardiff Bus, said: “We have always tried to ensure that we offer a level of flexibility for the journeys our customers make.
“Cardiff Bus remains committed to providing affordable, great value for money, and flexible travel options for our passengers.”
The ticket can be used by adults travelling along, making it ideal for quick errands or trips between school runs.
Customers who purchase tickets via the Cardiff Bus app will see significant savings compared to on-the-day purchases, with a single journey ticket costing £2.00 which is 20p less than on-board fares.
Cardiff Bus will also introduce revised fares on Sunday, March 31 to adapt to the move from government funding to customer-generated revenue.
The bus operator will continue to maintain its app-exclusive offers and has introduced new money-saving tickers to ensure passengers continue to experience convenient and budget-friendly travel options.
New fares for Cardiff, Penarth and Llandough for adults will be £1.90 for a local single, £2.40 for a full single, and £4.70 for a Day to Go. £17 for a weekly to-go and £60 for the month.
For a child, it will cost £1.30 for a local single, £1.60 for a full single, £3.10 for a Day to go, £12 for a weekly to and £44 a month and £44 for the month.
App exclusive tickets easy 3-day ticket bundle is £13.50 and for ten single trip tickets, it is £20. For full information on fare revisions, visit the Cardiff Bus website.
