A charity started by a Cowbridge resident has been providing special packs to children, after a donation from Tesco.

CF Warriors, created by Joshua Llewellyn-Jones OBE, aims to help children with cystic fibrosis live happier, healthier and longer lives through exercise.

Thanks to a grant of £6,500 from Tesco’s Stronger Starts scheme, the charity will be able to expand its reach into communities across south Wales, offering "Warrior Packs" to children in Swansea, Maesteg, Carmarthen, Pontardulais, Neath Abbey, Chepstow, Pontypool and surrounding villages.

These Warrior Packs come filled with sports clothing, accessories, CF Warrior pill boxes, wristbands and panda teddy bears, forming part of a wider effort to make these children feel part of a community.

Mr Llewellyn-Jones said: "One of the main problems children with cystic fibrosis face is a feeling of isolation.

"We created Warrior Packs for children with cystic fibrosis to help them feel like part of a community, to let them know that they are not alone in the fight against this terrible disease and to empower them to be the best they can be.

"We can't thank Tesco and every community across south Wales enough for helping us expand this programme even further."

Tesco's funding will also allow CF Warriors to partner with cystic fibrosis units around the country to distribute packs during clinic visits, providing a much-needed morale boost.

Claire de Silva, head of community at Tesco, praised the work of CF Warriors, acknowledging it as a perfect match with Tesco's community-oriented values.

She said: "It’s great seeing amazing charities such as CF Warriors receive such a plethora of grants and support."

Tesco customers from across seven different areas of Wales voted for CF Warriors to receive this top grant, a testament to the charity's impactful work.
