A CANNABIS factory has been found in a vacant property in Barry days after a factory was found in the centre of Penarth.

Florian Qalliu, 35, was charged with being concerned in the cultivation of cannabis and abstracting electricity after officers raided the HSBC building on Herbert Terrace at around 1.30pm on Thursday, June 20.

Now, South wales Police officers have attended a former bank building in Holton Road.

Police were there at around 10am yesterday (Tuesday, June 25).

Photos show hundreds of plants in the property in Barry.

Police say more than 170 plants were found, and one man was arrested.

A man is due to appear in court in relation to the factory.

Arlind Vata, 23, was due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court today, June 26, charged with being concerned in the cultivation of cannabis.

The cannabis has been seized and the property has been made safe.

A South Wales Police spokesperson said cannabis factories can cause a huge fire risk.

“Any production of drugs is linked to hidden harm and cannabis factories are often run by organised crime gang,” said the police spokesperson.

“The electrical requirements to grow this many plants are also dangerous and can be a huge fire risk, putting neighbouring properties, and lives, in danger."

The police spokesperson went on to encourage anyone who knows of illegal activity in their community to contact the police.

“We would encourage people to please continue to report suspicious behaviour and suspected drug dealing in their neighbourhood to us.”
