TWO town girl's are part of a quartet of teen singers who have made it through to the Grand Final of an online talent competition compared to the likes of X-Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.
Medi Owen is part of group 4th Harmony which is competing in YouTube talent competition Talent Search UK.
Talent Search UK is a YouTube channel which has been showcasing UK talent over many seasons.
Medi, along with Neve, also from Penarth, and Gracie-Leigh and Brooke from Cardiff all entered the competition as solo artists.
The producers asked the girls if they would join forces to create a new group called 4th Harmony.
The girls, who already knew each other from working with Amy Guppy from the Jeff Guppy School of Musical Theatre in Penarth, agreed to combine.
Their route through the competition saw them garner standing ovations.
They sang Never Enough from the Greatest Showman in their audition and the judges were instantly impressed and they proceeded to the live shows.
In the second round they sang You Will be Found from the musical Dear Evan Hansen and they received a standing ovation from all four judges and the audience.
Another standing ovation from all four judges followed their incredible third round performance of Show Me How You Burlesque from the movie Burlesque which saw them safely through to the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, they wowed the audience and all four judges with their beautiful version of Frank Sinatra's My Way and as all four judges stood up applauding once more, they had done enough to reach the Grand Final.
Father of Medi and owner of Penarth Physiotherapy Practice Dyfri Owen said he is hugely proud of his talented daughter.
“As former solo artists, the girls all have incredible voices, but as a group, their harmonies are incredible,” said Mr Owen.
“The competition is along the lines of X-Facto and BGT, just a lesser version, but they have loved the process and I am just so proud of them.”
The Grand Final will be shown on the Talent Search UK You Tube channel tonight, Friday, July 19 at 7pm. Tune in to support these talented local singers and be amazed by their voices and harmonies.
