A community orchard is amongst a number of projects to enhance biodiversity at a Penarth Park.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council highlighted that after a public consultation, the Vale Local Nature Partnership decided on a plan of action to enhance the natural life and biodiversity at the town's St Cyres Park.
This approach has seen funding from the Welsh Government’s Local Places for Nature Scheme.
The project has collaborated with St Joseph’s RC Primary with pupils helping to plant the community orchard.
There has also been developed sections of organised meadows with mown paths, and new native trees have been planted..
The next course of action will see a temporary fence installed along the boundary of the southern woodland area, encouraging natural regeneration into scrub and woodland.
The woodland will maintain access throughout this process.
More information about the work at St Cyre's Park can be found on the Vale of Glamorgan Council website.
