A community celebration event will be taking place in Cosmeston in September.

The event, organised by GPG's Penarth Growing Community and Penarth Civic Society's Tree Forum, will be held at Cosmeston Orchard on September 12, from 5.30 to 7.30pm.

It aims to bring together all the different growing and green groups in the area to share ideas, experiences, and discuss future cooperation.

Over the years, numerous community-based projects have sprouted across the town.

Numerous volunteers have joined forces to grow and care for trees, support food and biodiversity and foster connections within the community.

A comprehensive map of these projects can be found at https://penarthgrowingcommunity.co.uk/penarth-green-spaces/ and it illustrates the extent of green initiatives within the town.

The informal gathering at Cosmeston Orchard is an opportunity to share updates on various projects and to discuss the way forward. It is also to celebrate all the different groups and their work.

Attendees are encouraged to bring personal seating arrangements such as a folding chair or picnic blanket and refreshments. There will also be a chance to visit the orchard to see how it is doing and to discuss the groups' individual works.

The event organisers have also extended an invitation to Vale Local Nature Partnership and VoG parks.

The importance of an event like this lies in its ability to foster bonds, facilitate the sharing of ideas, and provide a platform for mutual support.

These projects and initiatives are creating a greener, more environmentally-friendly, and sustainable place to live in Penarth.

The organisers stated that any weather-related changes to the event would be communicated closer to the time.
