The Vale of Glamorgan recently approved a planning application and advised that prior approval was not needed for the second in Penarth.

These developments involve alterations at a local home and a demolition operation on a former naval station and the decisions were made in the last week.

HMS Cambria

An application for HMS Cambria on Hayes Lane, Sully was submitted by Mark Donovan. The application involves the demolition of buildings on the site of the former naval training station and the council said that prior approval was not needed for the work.

The demolition is necessary due to issues of vandalism and theft and will be carried out with the overall safety of the buildings in mind. This demolition project is expected to commence in October 2024 and conclude in December. The application said that they will be recycling the metal, timber, concrete, brick, and slate. The council issued a condition that work needs to be carried out within the next five years.

70 Plymouth Road, Penarth

An application has been approved for 70 Plymouth Road, Penarth, which involves the replacement of the rear single storey kitchen and renovations to the front boundary wall.

It comes with four conditions which include work must be started within five years of the decision being approved and work must be carried out in line with the approved documents and plans. The conditions also include the submission for approval of samples of red brick, blue cant engineering brick and half round red brick to be used in constructing the boundary wall, and compliance with the biodiversity and green infrastructure enhancement measures detailed in the Green Infrastructure Statement.
