There are a number of leisure events taking place in the coming week across Penarth and surrounding areas.

Here we bring you some of the forthcoming music and poetry events in Penarth and Dinas Powys.

Original band night

The Original Band Night will take place on Saturday, August 31 at Windsor Road's Penarth Ex Serviceman's Club.

The evening, which starts at 7pm, will include four original bands, including SYHR, Daioni, The Trips, and Upstairs at Hanna's.

Tickets are priced at £5, plus a booking fee, available on the Ticket Source website.

Dinas Powys Village Show

On Saturday, August 31, the Dinas Powys Village Show takes place from 1.30pm at the Parish & Lee Hall Gardens.

Entry costs £1, and under 16s can get in for free.

The show incorporates 100 classes of competitions across an afternoon of fun, including stalls, a raffle, tea served by the WI, a plethora of craft ciders and beers, and even a bouncy castle.

Poet Treehouse

On Sunday, September 1 at 6pm, Kin & Ilk The Old Bank, Dinas Powys will play host to Poet Treehouse.

Attendees are invited to express themselves freely at the gathering, with an open invitation to perform, as well as enjoy hot drinks, beer or wine, and compelling headline acts.

The inclusive community of poets, artists, musicians, writers and storytellers promises an inspiring evening to all.

Willow Hill

Nashville's Willow Hill, with husband-and-wife team CT and Alexandra Fields at the helm, will be performing at Penarth Pier Pavilion on Thursday, September 5 at 7.30pm.

Noted by Rolling Stone as a band to watch and have been called a 'new and unique country sensation, tickets for the concert will cost £18.95, plus a booking fee, and can also be secured via Eventbrite.
