In a ceremonial handover, the Rotary Club of Dinas Powys welcomed its new presidents.

The new presidents are Howard Gaylard, Ged Crosby, and Colin Jones. They were welcomed into the post on Thursday, August 29.

Outgoing president Tim Hubbard passed on his duties, and each incoming president is set to reign for several months.

In addition to this, Mr Hubbard bestowed the title of "Rotarian of the Year" to Robin Pitcher, and presented two Paul Harris Awards - an honour signifying substantial contributions to the club and community - to Dennis O'Shea and Crosby.

The rotary club had met at the Sully Inn, with the meeting starting after an 'excellent' meal, when Mr Pitcher received his unexpected accolade.

Mr Crosby, who handed over the award, said: "Robin came forward to take on the role of treasurer, and has been a great example of service to rotary."

The new era began with with Mr Crosby extending his heartfelt appreciation to various members who had served the club diligently throughout the last year.

He extended his gratitude to secretary Robin, treasurer Colin Jones, the Classic Car Show committee, and everyone in the club council.

"I find it hard to say how much I appreciated that support," he confessed.

During the ceremony, Chris Clarke was jokingly warned by Mr Crosby that backing out wasn’t an option, as he was given the president elect collar and badge.

Mr Crosby also highlighted the need for increased membership in order to keep up the club’s service, fundraising, and fellowship.

Venturing into shared prospects, he highlighted various upcoming initiatives like the Dickensian Fayre, a fundraiser set in the village square, and the big community event, the Vale of Glamorgan Classic Car Show slated for May 2025.
