Residents are disappointed that the sea view from benches at Penarth Clifftop is blocked by overgrown bushes and shrubbery.

In an anonymous post in a local Facebook group, a resident said: "(I) can no longer see the sea from Penarth clifftop - 'biodiversity' used as an excuse yet again?"

A Vale of Glamorgan Council spokesperson said: “There are plans to cut back vegetation in this area to restore the sea view from the benches as long as the cliffs are stable enough for this work to be caried out.

“Overgrowth between the original iron railings and wooden staked fencing will also be removed where possible.”

The social media post received lots of comments from residents reacting to the post.

Kelly Parkinson commented: "We thought the same yesterday. It's such a lovely view normally."

Gareth Dibble commented: "Money shouldn't be used as an excuse, based on how much Council tax we all pay. It's how the council spends it, is the real problem.

"It's predominantly down to poor budgeting and money being spent on vanity projects across the Vale."

Councillor Anthony Ernst's Facebook account commented: "Cllr. Anthony Ernest has reported this to the Council. Thank you."

In another comment he added: "Thank you. You are both quite right in what you tell me. Money is usually the cause of most of these valid complaints about bad management."
