Two Penarth planning applications have been submitted to the Vale of Glamorgan Council in the last week.
These include requests for variation of conditions for the creation of two independent shops and the felling of a tree.
The applications were submitted between September 9 and 15.
Variation of condition for two independent shops
An amendment to the planning conditions for the creation of two independent retail spaces has been submitted.
This refers to planning permission 2023/00821/FUL for refurbishing the front elevation of Kitchener and Thomas at 33-35 Windsor Road, Penarth to return retail space back into two independent shops. The plans were previously approved on December 13, 2023.
The proposed amendments include alterations to shopfront and front elevation window proportions, addition of shop awning details to drawings, amended rear dormer fenestration, and adjustment of rear dormer levels to match the terrace level, all in response to existing levels of the building now exposed on site, as well as some minor internal plan revisions.
Tree felling
An application that was submitted relates to the felling of a Lawson Cypress tree at 31, Cwrt-y-vil Road, Penarth.
The tree, situated in the rear garden of the property, is said to have outgrown its space, prompting the owners to seek permission to remove it.
The owners expressed interest in replacing the removed tree with one that is more beneficial to local wildlife such as a Rowan, Crab Apple or Hawthorne.
