A RESTAURANT, cafe and gym could replace the former furniture store, RB Furnishing Co if plans are approved.
A planning application was submitted by Mr Stuart Reid last month to demolish the former furniture store.
The demolition, if approved, will see all external and internal walls, roof coverings and roof structure together with the existing floor slab and sub-base be carefully taken down and removed.
The applicant described the building as being in 'poor condition' and gave the following reasons for the demolition being necessary:
-
The original solid wall construction has rising damp and allows water penetration.
-
The existing roof mostly comprises of a single skin of profiled asbestos sheeting in very poor condition.
-
The concrete floor is full of cracks and allows water penetration.
-
There is no insulation of the external fabric.
-
The existing shopfront is a mix of original timber in poor condition.
If approved the restaurant, cafe and gym will be built on the former building's site in the centre of Penarth on Ludlow Lane.
The new building proposed at the former furniture building site will be made of up two units.
The first unit on the ground floor will comprise of a restaurant.
The second unit will comprise of a cafe with access to the whole first floor of both units for use as a fitness centre and gymnasium.
