A MAN witnessed a tree fall onto a busy road on Sunday evening (September 29) in Penarth while having a cup of tea.
At around 7.30pm Simon Elias was sitting at home drinking a cup of tea when he saw from the tree fall onto the junction of Clive Place and Clive Crescent.
“I was looking out the window when I saw the tree come down because of the strong winds,” he said.
After seeing the tree fall, Mr Elias went outside and checked no pedestrians or drivers had been hurt.
“I went out to look and called the police who called the council – it was very efficient. It is a busy road, so it was probably a priority for them.
“I was watching the television at around 9pm when I saw people clearing it away and it was pretty much cleared away a couple of hours afterwards – they did a terrific job,” he added.
