There are a number of events taking place across Penarth over the next week.

Here we bring you some of the events including charity coffee mornings, a fashion show and live music.

Penarth Civic Society Annual Cheese, Wine and History Talk Evening

This event is scheduled for Thursday, October 17 at 7pm at St Augustine’s Parish Hall.

The talk will focus on the many vessels that have been wrecked or disappeared in the upper Bristol Channel.

Alan Thorne will take attendees on a historical journey, starting before the opening of Penarth docks and leading up to the present day.

He will discuss the many ships that have been lost, particularly in the days of sail, and will also explore the mystery of "wreckers" who were said to lure ships onto rocks to steal their cargo.

Attendees will also hear about the brave coastguards and lifeboatmen who risked their lives to save crews from vessels in distress.

Entry is £5 for members and £8 for non-members.

All attendees will receive a complimentary glass of wine or soft drink, along with a selection of cheese and biscuits.

Pre-booking is essential for catering purposes.

Fashion Show on a Mission

A fashion show will be held at Penarth Pier on Friday, October 18 at 7pm.

This event aims to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer, with the UK seeing almost 56,000 diagnoses each year.

Attendees are encouraged to 'go pink' in support of the cause.

The evening will feature upcycling and repurposing, as well as a chance to make new friends and join the community.

The venue will be lit up in pink on the night.

Tickets are priced at £25 and include arrival drinks, a goodie bag, and the chance to win a prize.

Live Music with the White Rabbit Band

The White Rabbit Band will be performing live at Penarth Conservative Club on Saturday, October 19.

The gig will kick off at 8pm and continue 'until late.'

This is the band's first time bringing it's rock 'n' roll to the club.

Entry is free and doors open at 7pm.

Cancer Research coffee afternoon

On Saturday, October 19, there will be a coffee afternoon at Penarth Conservative Club to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

This will take place between 2pm and 3.45pm.

The event will feature stalls selling cards, cakes, and homemade preserves.

There will also be a raffle, a lucky dip parcel stall, and some craft and Christmas items.

A warm welcome, along with coffee and biscuits, is included in the £2 entry charge.
