There were three planning applications relating to homes in the Penarth area in the last week.

Here are the three applications submitted to the Vale of Glamorgan Council between Monday, October 8 and Sunday, October 13.

Building maintenance

At 72 Stanwell Road, there is an application for extensive building maintenance.

This includes replacing the roof, rainwater goods, rendering, and refurbishing sandstone.

Chimney caps will also be added and brickwork will be repointed.

The proposal mentions the retention and reuse of existing clay ridge tiles and decorative clay finials for the roof.

The new roof will have a multi-foil underlay for improved insulation.

There will be a bonding gutter detail to divide the roof into two halves along the party wall.

The entry canopy roof will be replaced entirely.

Side and rear elevation fascias will be new black uPVC.

Lawful use application for garage

A lawful use or development application has been submitted for a secure garage at the end of an existing driveway at 7 Rectory Road Lane.

The application states: "We require a safe and secure garage to protect and store our car.

"Although we have a garage, it is not big enough to store a car and was used only to store disabled equipment prior to us owning the property.

"The driveway is already there but we need to simply add secure shelter for our car and bikes."

Lawful use or development application for a rear dormer loft conversion

There is a lawful use or development application for a rear dormer loft conversion at 21 Wood Street.

The application states the dormer is considered permitted development.

The materials will match the existing ones and the area is not a conservation area.

A certificate is being sought for thoroughness, as this extension "falls comfortably" under permitted development rights according to the application.
