A bridal boutique in Dinas Powys is offering sustainable wedding dresses.
Bridal Reloved Cardiff opened its doors September 27th and offers a variety of second-hand wedding dresses.
Business owner Bronwen Barclay explained her reasons behind the business. She said: “I was a primary teacher for 9 years in Penarth, but my interest has always been in sustainable fashion…“So, I began looking for my wedding dress, and I was searching for second hand wedding shops and bridal shops. I couldn’t find anything near me and the closest thing that actually came up was in Gloucester which is quite far away.”
Bronwen inspired by this gap in the market decided to take matters into her own hands.
“I just liked the idea of it, there’s all these wedding dresses that are going to waste the ones that don’t sell or are discontinued stock.“I wanted to give brides who were eco conscious or on a budget the same experience as others, it didn’t seem fair that preloved dresses meant that you didn’t have the VIP treatment”.
She continued: “Things are just getting more and more expensive, and people have said to me since I’ve opened, I wish you were open when I was looking for my dress I would have come here.”
All dresses are luxury high end designer gowns for half the retail price.
Bronwen’s preloved dresses range from £400 to £1,400 with the majority around £700.
The business is a bilingual boutique offering appointments in both Welsh and English.
