A number of Penarth planning applications have been approved by the Vale of Glamorgan Council recently.
Here are some of the plans that were approved between Monday, October 21 and Sunday, October 27.
Building envelope maintenance
The council has given the green light for comprehensive building envelope maintenance in Stanwell Road.
This includes replacing the roof, rainwater goods, and rendering, as well as repointing brickwork, refurbishing sandstone, and adding chimney caps.
The roof replacement will largely be like-for-like, retaining existing clay ridge tiles and decorative clay finials.
A bonding gutter will divide the roof into two halves along the party wall.
Decorative timber details and fascias on the front elevation will be retained, repaired, or replaced where necessary.
Work must start within five years of the approval date and adhere to the approved plans.
Hip to gable conversion and garage conversion
Plans to convert a hip to gable at a bungalow on Augusta Crescent have been approved.
The plans also include a Juliet balcony, single storey extension, and the conversion of the garage into residential use.
Conditions of the approval require that work must begin within five years and adhere to the approved plans.
A proposed bird box and green infrastructure enhancements must be in place before the development's first beneficial use.
The roof lights in the converted roof must have a sill height no lower than 1.7 metres above the floor level in the room they serve.
Variation of a condition
An application to vary a condition that includes changes to the shopfront and front elevation window proportions at Kitchener and Thomas on Windsor Road (33-35) has been approved.
The condition variations include the addition of a shop awning, changes to the rear dormer fenestration, and changes to the rear dormer levels to suit the terrace level. There are also minor internal plan changes.
The amendments are related to an application to return the retail space back to two independent shops and construction of a rear extension for additional retail space and refurbishment of the front elevation including a new shop front.
The council has put several conditions on the approval, including that work must be carried out in line with the approved plans and materials used must meet the approved plans and documents. There is also a clause that the premises must be used as a mix of retail (A1 use) and residential (C3 use).
Tree conservation works
The council has approved the felling of a Lawson Cypress tree on Cwrt-y-Vil Road.
The owners wish to remove the tree in their rear garden as they feel it has outgrown its space.
They would like to replace it with a tree that is more wildlife-friendly, such as a rowan, crab apple, or hawthorn.
The council has set a condition that the work must be done within 24 months of the approval date.
Extension
Plans for a single storey side extension with a rear dormer and the enlargement of an existing side dormer at Robinswood Close have been approved.
Internal remodelling and associated works are also included in the plans.
The council has set several conditions, including that work must start within five years of the approval date and be done in line with the approved documents.
Biodiversity enhancement measures must be carried out in full prior to the first beneficial occupation or use of the development and thereafter retained in accordance with the approved details while the development remains in existence.
The windows to serve the dormer must be installed with a cill height that is not below 1.7m above the floor level of the room served.
