A NEW spa is preparing to open at the former Glass by Design location in the centre of Penarth.
A planning application has been submitted for the change of use across four floors of a building for a single beauty/spa/therapy/retail business.
It was submitted to the council on October 3 by Chatchaya Spa Ltd, which plans to open the doors soon.
In a post on Facebook, a spokesperson for Chatchaya Spa said: “We are excited to announce that the Beauty Box family is extending to Penarth.
"Work is underway to transform the former Glass by Design premises across the road from BB into your private, quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle.
“We look forward to welcoming you all soon to our relaxing space with the familiar five-star service that you expect.”
The premises were formerly the home of Glass By Design who have since moved to 60 Stanwell Road in Penarth.
Glass By Design is an education centre in the town which runs stained and fused glass workshops.
Chatchaya Spa will be a holistic therapy destination for all massage types, Japanese head spa, body scrubs, facials, and Thai foot massages.
It can be found at 1 Station Approach, which is a short distance from Penarth train station.
In a TikTok video, shared on October 16, the spa shared an update on the progress it has made ahead of its opening.
The post said: “Hi, all lovely clients, it won’t be long now. Thank you for all of your messages!
“Some of you will have heard that we at Beauty Box and WAX & GLO have been working hard to get the project over the line – a new spa and holistic therapy destination for Penarth – Chatchaya Spa.
“Our existing experienced team, along with some new treatment specialists, will offer professional Thai massage, foot massage, body scrubs, Japanese Head Spa and an extended Eve Taylor Facials offer.
“Some new experiences here in Penarth, our hometown, will be ready soon for you to unwind and treat yourself.
“Be ready for Christmas gift vouchers for a new experience with our skincare gift range. I cannot wait to share more with you."
A follow up TikTok reel was shared on their Facebook page on October 24, showing the renovation works "80 per cent" complete.
It gave a quick glimpse of the rooms inside of the spa including their luxury massage and body scrub room.
The opening date has not yet been confirmed on their social media, but you can keep an eye on the Chatchaya Spa Facebook page for further updates.
